This time of the year Los Tres Amigos have a special Skype call, with Pam and me sitting here in my study in Dublin, Hans in the Netherlands and Javier in the finance department in Kandern, Germany (not in Spain where he usually is).
This call is different from our regular Skype calls which happen every few weeks, for this one is just about planning. First we read plans that have come in from national ministries all over Europe and then we Skype – for half a day! And we pray.
I bet you think about plans this time of the year too. That is only right. “The plans of the righteous are just” Proverbs 12:5. Planning is good. As we plan, however, we must also pray for God’s intervention.
For example, we share the gospel with people. That’s good too. But nothing at all will happen unless the Holy Spirit regenerates those who respond.
We challenge involved students and volunteers to join the harvest. But nobody will respond unless God moves them. That’s why Christ said to pray to the Lord of the harvest.
We challenge people to join staff – presenting this call must surely be one of our most noble privileges. But nobody will answer unless they hear God’s call.
We invite people to join in our great endeavour by supporting us financially, and so we should. It’s Biblical. But it won’t work until the Lord unlocks people’s hearts.
We seek favour with the authorities under whom we work. That’s what we’re supposed to do. But they won’t see things God’s way without his giving them some spiritual insight.
Across Agape Europe we have made plans for 2009. I believe they are good plans, spiritual plans. I believe God is pleased with them. But they depend completely on God’s moving.
